Anti-wrinkle, or wrinkle relaxing treatments are an effective method to minimise and smooth away unwanted facial lines and wrinkles. This popular injectable treatment leaves you looking and feeling like a fresher, more youthful version of yourself. Enjoy subtle, natural results that allow expressions but remove the deeper signs of facial ageing. 

How it works

Botulinum Toxin Type A (commonly referred to as Botox®) is the key ingredient found in anti-wrinkle injections. This works by relaxing and weakening the targeted muscle which, when it contracts and bunches up, causes unwanted lines. Once injected, Botox® (and the other product we enjoy using, Xeomin®) sit between the nerve endings and the muscle fibres. This inhibits the muscle from contracting as it had previously. With or without Botulinum Toxin your body naturally renews these nerve endings which is why the product wears off over time, usually at around three months. 

Pre-treatment 

Prior to your treatment you will have a consultation to ensure your suitability for the desired treatment area. At the consultation we will talk through any questions or concerns, and the treatment process will be explained. 

To reduce chances of bruising, we recommend avoiding blood thinning medications such as: aspirin, ibuprofen and fish oils (consult your medical practitioner first) one week prior to your appointment.

To reduce risk of infection and to ensure appointments are kept to time, please try to arrive makeup free. 

Before your appointment please let us know if you…

• You have recently had dental work. 
• You have recently had a Covid, or other, vaccination. 
• Have an auto immune disorder.
• Are on any antibiotics.
• Have a severe metabolic or systemic disorder.
• Are regularly taking anticoagulant medications.
• Have Myasthenia Gravis syndrome or Eaton Lambert syndrome.
• Have any sensitivity to Botulinum Toxin Type A.
• Currently have an active infection at the treatment site.
• Pregnant, breastfeeding or planning on becoming pregnant.

Post-treatment

For 48 hours following your treatment,  avoid touching, rubbing and massaging the injected area. Gentle cleansing and your normal skincare routine is fine. Mineral make up may be applied unless instructed otherwise.

Avoid strenuous exercise, heat and saunas for 24 hours.

Some clients experience a mild headache after treatment.

Ice may be held gently over the site if it feels tender, or to minimise bruising. 

Results

Optimal results are noticeable two weeks post treatment. However, most clients will slowly start to notice changes at day four or five post treatment. These results typically last three to four months. If you are wanting to keep your bloom fresh, then we recommend regular appointments which are best booked before you leave the clinic to ensure you have your choice of times.
